Special Education

At MES, we believe that diversity is a strength, and every child deserves an education that meets their unique needs. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive setting where all students can learn and thrive together, regardless of their abilities or differences.

Individualized Support

Our team of educators, special education professionals, and support staff work collaboratively to create a learning environment that addresses the diverse needs of our students.

Social Integration

Inclusion goes beyond academics and fosters social integration. We encourage positive interactions and friendships among all students, promoting a sense of belonging for everyone in our school community.

Accessibility

MES school building and resources are designed to be accessible to all students. We strive to create an environment where physical and educational barriers are minimized, ensuring that every student can fully participate in all aspects of school life.

Registration Process

The registration process for all students is the same, regardless of if they have special needs.

The registration period typically takes place at the end of January and early February. However, parents may register their child(ren) at any time in one of our schools as long as they meet the ETSB criteria for enrolment.

However, during the registration process, it is important that the school team be made aware of your child’s profile to ensure that their needs can be met. Without this information, there may be delays in putting necessary measures in place.

The following information should be shared with the school team upon registration:

  • Does your child have a medical condition(s)?
  • Does your child have a disability that could impact their academic and school success?
  • Has your child been assessed by a professional?
    • By whom?
    • For what reason?
    • If a report could help the school organize services for the child, it is important to share it with the team.
  • Is your child on a waiting list to be assessed?
  • Any other pertinent information

Collaboration with Parents

The MES school team values our partnership between parents and staff. Your insights into your child’s strengths, challenges, and preferences are essential in effectively supporting and meeting their needs. We encourage open communication and collaboration to ensure the best possible learning experience for every student.

Unsure of what information is pertinent to share with your child’s school? Here is a form (English and French versions), that can support you.
