International Student Program
Located along the southern border of Québec and the United States, our region offers some of the most beautiful landscapes in Canada. Surrounded by lakes, mountains, ski resorts, and national parks, our schools are set in safe, welcoming suburban communities that provide secure and supportive learning environments.
The ETSB is recognized for its strong commitment to bilingualism. We offer English-language instruction alongside the option of English, French, or bilingual host families. Our schools also provide a wide range of specialized programs designed to meet the diverse interests and talents of students. These include Advanced Placement (AP) courses, as well as programs in Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Sports, and Music. These opportunities allow students to pursue their passions while developing valuable skills for their future careers.
In addition, students can take part in numerous extracurricular activities such as robotics, journalism, band, drama, and competitive sports teams, as well as travel opportunities. By studying with us, students will experience life and learning in a dynamic bilingual environment and enjoy a truly enriching cultural experience.
We look forward to welcoming you to our community!

Our High School International Students
We welcome international students aged 14 to 17 for 3-month, semester, or full academic year programs at one of our three outstanding high schools.
More than just studying abroad, our students embark on a life-changing cultural exchange. They immerse themselves in Canadian life, create lasting friendships, and become valued members of their host families and school communities. At the same time, they enrich those around them by sharing their own language, traditions, and culture, making the experience truly rewarding for everyone involved.
Every student is thoughtfully matched with a caring host family from our extensive ETSB Host Family Network and receives ongoing personalized support from our dedicated Homestay Coordinator, helping them feel at home while making the most of their Canadian experience.

Our Vocational Education International Students
Build Your Future with Vocational Training!
Take the next step toward your career with the Eastern Townships School Board. We welcome international participants aged 18 and over who have completed their high school education and are ready to develop practical, job-ready skills through one of our Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) programs.
With hands-on training, experienced instructors, and a supportive learning environment, our vocational centres prepare students for success in today’s workforce. A good command of English is required to fully benefit from the program and classroom instruction.

Our Host Families
We are proud of our homestay program! The Eastern Townships school board offers host family student placements to our high school visitors. Our students can choose to live with a French or English-speaking family or with a bilingual family while studying in English.
We carefully select ourselves our own host families according to rigorous standards and with a strong commitment to welcoming values. Each family is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment, while offering students a rich and authentic cultural experience.
With many years of experience in homestay coordination, we are highly skilled at finding the most suitable match for each student. We take the time to carefully review every student’s profile, interests, and personal wishes in order to ensure a meaningful and comfortable placement. We have also seen just how central host families are to student success—academically, socially, and personally. They truly are at the heart of each student’s experience.
These relationships often last well beyond the program. Many students return years later to visit their host families, and some even invite them to important life milestones such as their weddings.
Student don’t just find a place to stay—they become part of a Canadian family for life.
Homestay Coordinator
The role of your coordinator is to provide support and guidance to both you and your host family, ensuring a successful experience. The coordinator is responsible for thoroughly screening families and will arrange regular visits to confirm you are adapting well to your new environment.
